Ductless Heat Pump Installation

Ductless heat pumps offer more control, flexibility, and ease. With the ability to heat and cool specific rooms at different temperatures, you can save energy and money while enjoying optimal comfort.

What is a ductless heat pump?

No need to purchase two separate systems to heat and cool your home–the ductless heat pump does it all.

Also referred to as mini-split systems or ductless mini-split, these powerful HVAC systems get their name for being the miniature version of the traditional central air source heat pump. The key difference? That’s in the name, too–ductless heat pumps keep your home comfortable year-round without ductwork.

The ductless system has indoor units mounted in main living areas that heat and cool using refrigerant expansion and compression. The reason it’s often called a “split” system is because there are two components: the outdoor heat pump unit and the indoor register.

Besides being a 2-in-1 heating and cooling system, they’re more cost-effective, energy-efficient, compact, and customizable than most HVAC systems.

Why you should consider installing a ductless heat pump in your Washington home

Mini-splits are perfect for the PNW’s unique climate and location. Allergy season is just one of the many seasons we’re familiar with here, but ductless heat pumps are here to save you from bothersome allergens. Since they don’t have any ductwork, there’s no place for dust or debris to collect. In fact, your system will naturally improve your indoor air quality by pulling fresh air directly from outside into your home and capturing airborne nuisances.

Another major advantage of a mini-split system is its high energy efficiency. Ductless heat pumps are far more energy efficient than most heating systems and are considered by many to be a better option for keeping your home cool than an air conditioner.

Functionality-wise, mini-split systems are easy to use–all you need is a remote to operate. Homeowners across the Seattle area and beyond love that these systems require little to no maintenance. And when in use, they don’t sound like the awakening of a dragon. Ductless heat pumps work hard to keep your home comfortable, but they do so quietly.

You also have the option to customize your system depending on an individual room or zone’s heating or cooling needs. Since you can have up to eight inside units per outdoor unit, you could set each inside unit to the preferred temperature of the room or zone it occupies. So if the kids like it warm at night, but you like it cool, with a ductless heat pump, your home can accommodate both. It is up to 5 heads for a single unit, and 8 heads for a double unit. Also, all the heads have to be set to the same setting.

There are many benefits to installing a new heat pump, especially for homes across the Puget Sound. Thanks to no ductwork, a mini-split can save you a lot of money on installation costs and your monthly energy bill.

These systems have indoor and outdoor units like a traditional heat pump. However, ductless mini split systems are smaller, easier, and quicker to install.

We provide ductless heat pump HVAC services to homeowners across the Puget Sound including Tacoma, Seattle, Kent, Everett, Lynnwood, Redmond, Bothell, Bellevue, and surrounding areas.

Here’s what one of our customers had to say about our installation process:

“This is a highly professional organization, from sales to installation. If you want the job done right, and a group to stand behind their work and products, Washington Energy Services is the way to go. I especially like that this company used their own inspectors, installers and service people rather than contracting this work out.”

Ductless Heat Pump Installation FAQs

Ductless heat pumps use air handlers rather than ducts to disperse hot or cool air throughout your home. They work similar to a traditional heat pump but are popular and often preferred because of their compact size, high efficiency, and customizable features. Like the OG heat pumps, they also have two parts, one outside and one inside. Unlike them, ductless heat pumps can have several indoor units depending on the number of rooms or zones you are looking to heat or cool.

Where traditional heat pumps require a backup heating system when it’s freezing, ductless heat pumps can still create comfortable heat when the thermostat reads -4℉. That’s why ductless heat pumps are so popular in cold climates, like our beloved home in the PNW.

Whether it’s an electric or gas furnace, it does one thing and one thing only: heat. A ductless heat pump provides both air conditioning and heating by taking the heat out of the outside air and transferring it indoors to heat or by taking the warm air inside and transferring it outside to cool.

Our highly skilled and trained heat pump technicians can often install a mini-split in less than a day, whereas central air source heat pump systems require much more work and, therefore, take quite a bit longer to install.

  • I just had WA Energy Services install a heat pump onto my furnace. They quoted far less than some of their competition and the salesman was a lot more efficient with our time than others we talked to. Everyone I interacted with was extremely professional - the lead installer was really great to work with. Everything was clean and perfectly back to rights when they were done. Installation was completed on time, looks fantastic and works very well. Thanks!
