An Air Handler is used to circulate hot or cold air through your home depending on the season.
A gas furnace uses Natural Gas or Propane to heat you home whereas an Air Handler uses Electricity and is usually paired with an outdoor condenser such as a Heat Pump.
An Air Handler consists of an Evaporator Coil, a Blower Motor, and usually an Electric Heat Strip. It is a necessary component for an electric split system along with a Heat Pump.
All for home.
